January. It’s the time of year where we all put down the leftover Christmas pudding and resolve to pick up the weights and the pace towards becoming our fittest self.
However, a practice that’s as old as making New Year’s resolutions is breaking them. It’s been reported 58% of Australians broke their New Year’s resolutions in 2015, and most of those promises were abandoned within the first three months of the year.
It’s a vicious, time-honoured cycle.
And it’s one Darwin’s InsideOut Fitness is going to help its members break in 2016.
InsideOut Fitness owner Sue Shepherd said the reasons people don’t stick to fitness resolutions are many, but a common one is not making realistic goals.
“In January we usually see people take a gung-ho, all or nothing approach to fitness,” she said. “They go looking for instant transformations, and when that doesn’t work they give up.
“If you want to succeed in your fitness goals you’ll have a better chance if you make realistic goals, track your progress and are supported by someone who will keep you accountable. It’s about making health and fitness a permanent lifestyle change, and focusing equally on nutrition, exercise and your mental wellbeing.”
This holistic approach is what a new program from InsideOut Fitness promises. The 8-week Resolution Challenge will provide a fusion of nutrition, physical training and mental wellbeing, giving members the chance to embrace a better lifestyle in a supportive, caring environment.
Members of the Resolution program will enjoy amazing extras, including a free 30-minute consultation with a qualified nutritionist from Healing Foods and their very own ‘Club Companion’ – filled with exercise tips, nutrition advice, worksheets, planners, and recipes.
Mrs Shepherd said the program is for anyone – fitness beginner or expert – who wants to make a lasting lifestyle change.
“Our passionate team at InsideOut Fitness are our members biggest supporters,” she said. “We’re determined to help them achieve their goals in 2016, and we think the best way to do that is with our constant support. No team member will go through the Resolution Challenge alone, so we encourage anyone who wants a new start this year to sign up now!”
The 8-week Resolution Challenge starts on 27 January and has limited spots available. To register or for more information contact Sue Shepherd on 0400 352 498, at sue@insideoutfitnessdarwin.com.au or visit insideoutfitnessdarwin.com.au
